About Us

This is us in our trusty(!) LR90(?) in Moremi, Botswana in 2010.
We are Terry and Jean, have 2 children Tim (with wife Kate and newly born Hazel) and Sal (with husband Richard and babies Sophie and Alexa), live in Howden East Yorkshire, and love travelling especially in Africa!

Our overlanding experience actually started in 1972, when Terry and his friend Mick left Bebington UK to drive round the world. They actually spent their time driving to Jo'burg via the central Sahara, to West Africa then across to East Africa, then down through Malawi, Zimbabwe to RSA and, cutting a long story short, I joined Terry and we travelled overland back to UK in ''75 before settling in RSA for 14 years, eventually relocating to UK in 1986.

Then after a few holidays back to RSA Tim suggested a birthday bash for Terry's 60th in Botswana in 2008, after which we were truly bitten once again by this wonderful continent-- they say; 'You can take a man out of Africa, but you cannot take Africa out of the man'
hence the 2010 three month recce around southern Africa and now 2011 trip home, at the age of 60 + ------must be mad. In fact we have "Adventure before Dementia" emblazoned on the doors of our L/R.

This time, 36 years later, the route in north Africa is not yet set in stone, especially to the north on Kenya so we'll have to plan on the road a bit.

Well.....  2011 was a blast so we're off again! We felt that we had rushed the bit north of the equator so wanted to drive back down and absorb some more, this time with our friends Sue and Steven Smith in their 110. Sadly the Egyptian unrest made us change our minds at the last minute so, all dressed up with nowhere to go, we ended up shipping to Durban and here we sit (16/09/2013) waiting for them to arrive. This one will probably be a coast to coast again, this time right to left............
